Stats:

• Canadians sent 25 billion person-to-person text messages in Q4 2012, which represents an average of more than 270 million messages per day.
• Total text messages sent in 2012 numbered 96.5 billion, up from the 78 billion messages sent in 2011.

• In Q4 2012, MMS messages sent totaled 198 million. As of December 2012, Canadians are sending an average of 2.2 million MMS messages per day.
• Total person-to-person MMS messages sent in 2012 numbered 637 million, up from the 327 million MMS messages sent in 2011.

• Canadians sent and received a total of 599 million text messages using Common Short Codes in Q4 2012.
• A total of 2.4 billion Common Short Code messages were sent and received by Canadians in 2012.
